Tech7 is looking for a Senior OPIR Mission Engineer to join our team to support a critical space mission. This is an in-person role located in El Segundo, CA.

Our team builds and maintains a powerful Modeling & Simulation platform enabling teammates to address challenging real-world problems for the Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) mission by evaluating current and future system performance. We work directly with both system manufacturers and operational users to design, develop, and maintain capabilities that empower decision makers to create actionable intelligence from OPIR data to give our intel and combat organizations the decision advantage over our near-peer adversaries.

Specifically, our team is looking for a Senior EO/IR Mission Engineer to support system modeling of multiple sensors from aperture to product generation ensuring the end user can take full advantage of system capabilities. Sometimes called Image Chain Analysis (ICA), this position requires a senior engineer to support a multi-disciplinary team of highly skilled physicists, engineers and mathematicians to model overall system performance and utility. Modeling efforts will include improving existing system capabilities and evaluating next generation system performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Support generation and evaluation of sensor models for existing and future remote sensing capabilities

Support the generation of synthetic target and background data for use in evaluating future sensor detection capabilities

Support system of system detection performance for a wide range of target signatures in cluttered backgrounds

Develop and evaluate new and advanced algorithms, perform remote sensing simulations, and analyses using simulated and real data

Supporting data exploitation as it relates to collection systems, collection planning, data processing and transmission

Provide insights and technical recommendations on approaches to computationally intensive problems

Working independently and collaborating with other personnel to solve challenging technical problems

Evaluate and generate requirements for future imaging systems

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field, particularly Remote Sensing, Imaging Science, Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Science, Computer Science, Optical or Electrical Engineering

12+ years remote sensing with significant portion in the OPIR domain

Exceptional analytic problem-solving skills relating to the performance of passive remote sensing electro-optical visible and infrared sensors

Experience with infrared imaging systems, image processing, image exploitation, or digital signal processing

Ability to work interactively and effectively with government customers and contractor personnel

Familiarity with Agile development processes and associated collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and git

This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is issued by the US government

Must be a U.S citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in a related STEM field, particularly Remote Sensing, Imaging Science, Astronomy, Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Science,

Computer Science, Optical or Electrical Engineering

15+ years remote sensing with significant portion including OPIR domain

Programming experience using Python and/or MATLAB

Knowledge of Intelligence processes (e.g., tasking, collection, processing, exploitation, dissemination)

Familiarity with data visualization and data science principles and applications
